We were notified by National Grid that they were replacing the pipes on our street. In the letter, they stated that at some point, when they switched to the new pipe, they would have to shut off our gas and to turn it back on, someone would have to be home.

We never were notified and returned home tonight to find a note on the door that our gas had been shut off and as no one was home, we should call to have a technician come out to restore the gas. We called and were told there would be someone there between 4PM and 8PM. When no one showed up by 10, we called again and were told they were en route. We called again at 11:30, only to be told the technicians were busy elsewhere and they would call us sometime the next day when some one was available.

This is not good customer service!

First, they should have done what they originally said they would do and notify us in advance. Second, they should have had some one on the block to take care of anyone who came home at the end of the day.
